The Wolseley has to be the restaurant in London with the most interesting interior; a converted car showroom from the 1920s built on such an extravagant scale that it bankrupted Wolseley motors. This hugely popular restaurant was obviously inspired by the the great Brasseries of Paris but the Wolseley's plush interior outshines nearly all of them. It is usually advisable to reserve a table for dinner, although they always make available some tables on the night.
Dinner at the Wolseley can be expensive, so why not visit earlier in the day for a more affordable taster of its elegance and splendour? In the grand café tradition, it serves excellent food throughout the day, including Breakfast, morning pastries, Lunch, and an all-day menu.
It's also one of the best places for Afternoon Tea where for under £10 you get a plate of freshly-baked scones, own-made jam, clotted cream and a pot of tea. There's also a mouth-watering selection of English cakes and French pâtisserie.
